Lexus Tire Pressure Guide

Say you’re driving down the road to Port Washington, and your driver display indicates that you have low tire pressure in one of your tires. What do you do? You may have a number of questions, like:

  • What PSI should my Lexus tires be?
  • Does Lexus tell you which tire is low?
  • How often do tires lose pressure?
  • And more!

Never fear. Rallye Lexus is here with a comprehensive Lexus tire pressure guide, so you can easily and quickly navigate the steps of properly inflating your tires, ensuring your safety on the roads of Roslyn. If you think your tires or tire sensors may be having issues, don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment at our Lexus service center in Glen Cove.

What PSI Should My Lexus Tires Be?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this question. The correct PSI can vary depending on the weight of your vehicle and what tires you’re using. To find the correct PSI for your Lexus tires, we recommend three strategies.

  • You can find this information in your owner’s manual.
  • You can also find this information on a stamp along the sill of the driver’s door.
  • You may have to open the door to see this info.
  • And the third strategy? Keep reading.

Does Lexus Tell You Which Tire is Low?

If you drive a vintage Lexus, you may have to rely on your owner’s manual or the info stamped on the driver-side door sill. If you drive a Lexus from the last few generations, it likely includes a Tire Pressure Monitoring System. You can access the tire pressure levels in each of your tires through your driver display, and this system will alert you when it senses tire pressure is low in any of the tires, singling out the culprits for you.

How Do You Properly Inflate Tires?

Once you’ve identified which tires are a low on air and what the proper PSI should be, stop by a gas station with an air pump or a Lexus service center. Then:

  • Grab a tire pressure gauge (you can buy these at just about any gas station).
  • Park next to the air pump, positioning your vehicle, so that you can easily draw the hose from the pump over to the tires that need to be inflated.
  • Once you’ve positioned your vehicle for easy air-inflation, take off the valve cap of the tire that needs some air.
  • Then, attach the gauge to identify how much pressure is in your tire, We recommend doing this, even if your display has already indicated what the PSI is.
  • Once you’ve determined to what degree the tire is under-inflated, put some coins in the machine, attach the hose, and pull the trigger, adding as much air as needed.
  • If your tires are inflated, then hold the pin on the valve to release air from the tires.
  • Check your work now and then with the gauge, to keep tabs on how far you are from the correct PSI.

How Often Do Tires Lose Pressure?

On average, tires lose about 1 PSI a month in regular weather—much more in colder conditions. Many factors can affect what rate your tires lose pressure, however, so to be safe, we recommend inspecting PSI once a month.
