Does Lexus Have an Electric Car or SUV?
As of this writing, Lexus has 6 hybrids and 1 plug-in hybrid, but does Lexus make an electric car? There is no full Lexus electric car as of this writing. However, this is set to change soon. The first true Lexus EV, the 2023 Lexus RZ is set to arrive on Port Washington streets in 2022. The Upcoming 2023 Lexus RZ Electric SUV
So, does Lexus make an electric car or SUV? It will soon! The 2023 Lexus RZ SUV is slated to release sometime in 2022. Much of what we know about the RZ is speculation; however, it’s
likely to share the same e-TNGA platform as the Subaru Solterra and Toyota BZ4x. Other possibilities include:
- The RZ will likely feature that same Direct4 and the steer-by-wire system as the Toyota bZ4x. This feature requires two motors and is a torque-vectoring all-wheel drive system.
- Dual motors and AWD are a safe bet for the RZ.
- Journalists are speculating that the RZ will feature higher-strength steel for increased rigidity.
Future Plans for Lexus Electric Car and SUVs
Not much has been released about the new Lexus electric SUV; however, this doesn’t mean that the brand hasn’t made a commitment to the electrification of their lineup. In fact, Lexus is shifting production strategies, so that they’ll only be selling Lexus electric cars and Lexus electric SUVs to North American, Chinese, and European markets by 2030. As for the rest of the world, the Lexus lineup will be fully electric by 2035.
